Book review "Cars, motorcycles"
Every page of the album "Cars, motorcycles ..." more and more awakened in me a strange feeling of loss of the automotive soul. Each subsequent photo showed a progressive glorification of what is under the hood. Obviously, that's the whole point, but almost a century ago, the defining factor of beauty was the appearance of a car, not its power. Currently, everything looks exactly the opposite, which is a bit sad, but it's easy to understand when looking at the development of technology. Beauty standards are changing, but I think the album contains the essence of what a real car should look like. It's a pity that we've moved away from this in favor of oval shapes straight out of a science fiction movie. Less than thirty years later, we will look at our current cars in the same way, forgetting more and more what it was about - appearance, not power.
As a native of Poznan, I was thrilled with the photos of the first ambulance in my city, as well as the ads for the funeral home, which could easily become a meme these days. It seems to me that admiring horsepower is natural, but knowing how we achieved it should be the foundation of the next decades in the field of transportation.
Book review "Dedicatovskaya in memories and inspiration";
As I wrote earlier, although the reviewed book is not a sufficient source of acquaintance with Dedyatovskaya, it is an excellent practice in her work and an encouragement to establish a deeper relationship with her poems. However, I must admit that I have a special impression, probably because of the final passages, that the book is more of a showcase, an incentive to visit the Dedyatovskaya Museum (which I'm about to visit), a specific advertisement, rather than a position.
It is worth mentioning the publication of the reviewed material separately. The book is complemented by numerous photographs, illustrations and graphics depicting or corresponding to the figure of the poet, guests or works. The release is landscape in nature, it looks really interesting, and the proportions between the content and the image seem balanced. This is a book that you read quickly, with a sense of aesthetic satisfaction caused by physical beauty, as well as the diligence and reflection that the people responsible for Dedicatovskaya's appearance have shown in their memories and inspiration. I recommend the book mainly to poetry lovers: both those who read or appreciate Dedyatovskaya's work, and those to whom this work is alien. I'm sure you'll like it.
